Biography

Olivier Vrancken

Born 03/09/1973 in Antwerp, Belgium, currently living in Breda, Netherlands

After having lived through a career of freelance graphic design, Olivier Vrancken decided to put down the digital tools. He returned to his passion, expressing his personal visual language by painting and drawing. Now turning to the use of acrylics and ink on canvas and paper.

As an artist, you're continuously evolving and exploring your distinctive visual language. This parallels with the work field of graphic designers, whereas here you work on voicing the message of whomever the client may be. Now released from these restraints, Vrancken has the ability to work on his abstract, symbolical and sometimes geometrical body of work. Where we can still see a hint of his previous work as a graphic designer, Vrancken has now stepped across the border of graphic design and entered the world of fine art.

His works are a constant battle between the calmness and chaos in his mind and life. Elements in his work are reflections from his subconscious, derived from his experiences, thoughts and life in general. Vrancken takes inspiration from the old masters like Kandinsky and the surrealistic work of Giorgio de Chirico but also the works of many contemporary artists.
